Will joined Lucidworks in 2013 as our Chief Product Officer and was appointed CEO in 2014. He has over 15 years of product, marketing, and business development experience. Prior to Lucidworks he was head of technical business development for Splunk, where he was responsible for defining the company’s market category and key product feature sets. He created and led the company’s global partner program, building an ecosystem of consultants, developers, resellers, system integrators, service providers, and technology partners. Earlier in his career, Hayes served as a software engineer at Genentech, where he built solutions that supported the sales and drug development teams in their field activities.

The company has grown from 100 to over 250 employees over the past several months, and Will has not only outlined values like honoring people, and staying curious, he’s modeled them himself. He’s gracefully taken on the challenge of growing a global company, and through his actions and responses to issues and conflict, managed to create a healthy, inclusive, and respectful work environment. Employee reviews on Glassdoor rank Lucidworks with one of the highest CEO approval ratings (98%) compared to the average 69%. The company overall also has a high rating of 4.5 compared to the average 3.4 on a 5 point scale. This is more proof from the inside that Will’s clear mission and values-based vision are felt throughout the organization. Will is also a great role model as a black executive who grew up in the Bay Area. As many people feel excluded from the wealth of jobs and opportunity that sprung up around Silicon Valley in the last two decades, Will serves as a great model for what’s possible.
