The Software Report is pleased to announce the Top 50 Women Leaders in SaaS of 2020. These women have demonstrated admirable leadership across a variety of roles within the software industry. Dedicated to inclusivity and diversity in the workplace, they have served as advocates for women in tech and have stood out as role models pushing forth a bold new agenda. While their reputations among colleagues and peers speak for themselves, they continuously strive to develop even higher performing collaborative teams to exceed expectations.

This year’s awardees are recognized for their performance within their roles, their ability to foster innovation and growth, and their expertise in SaaS solutions. These individuals have made profound contributions in strategy, operations, marketing, human resources, business development, and other areas. Their insight and guidance continues to spur new initiatives, mobilize funding, and leverage strategic partnerships, in turn allowing their companies to thrive.

1. Hande Cilinger
Company: Insider
Title: Chief Executive Officer

Hande Cilingir is the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Insider, the growth management platform that assists digital marketers in driving growth across the funnel, from acquisition to activation, retention, and revenue. Utilizing deep AI and machine learning capabilities, while leveraging real-time predictive segmentation, Insider’s platform empowers marketers to create personalized journeys across multi-channel platforms. Under Cilingir’s leadership and vision, Insider has been listed amongst WIRED Magazine’s 100 Hottest Startups and Red Herring’s Top 100 Europe in 2017. Her company boasts clients as large as Samsung and Nissan, as well as international retail brands like Uniqlo. In 2020, the company announced its latest funding intended to enhance the AI-fueled omni-channel experience marketing solutions and proliferate sales and R&D.

Cilingir previously worked as an investment consultant for global companies such as PepsiCo and Vestel. Following her master’s degree, Cilingir honed her leadership experience across multiple international regions both living and working in the Middle East, U.K., China, Asia Pacific, and Russia. At Insider, Cilingir shares the company with five fellow co-founders and she oversees operations with an emphasis on building strong company culture. She actively lends support to the sales and marketing teams and is credited with developing the disruptive technology of predictive ad audiences. This year Crunchbase ranked Cilingir as one of the top three female CEOs outside of the U.S. Among her notable accolades, she was also granted the most successful Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award by Microsoft.

 

2. Katherine Kostereva
Company: Creatio
Title: Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Katherine Kostereva is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Creatio, a global software company providing a leading low-code platform for process management and customer relationship management (CRM) software. In 2002, Kostereva sought to help businesses transform and better engage with customers, so she pursued the path of creating a robust platform that accelerated marketing, sales, service, and operations. Since then, Creatio has grown into a recognized market leader. At the core of Creatio is Kostereva, who is well known in the organization for her energy, drive, and consistent focus on results. Just this month, she was named the winner of a Gold Stevie Award in the Female Entrepreneur of the Year category in the 17th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.

She developed her deep business acumen over nearly two decades of experience enabling businesses to optimize sales, marketing, services, and overall operations, catering to thousands of customers and worldwide partners. Kostereva believes that as Chief Executive, she can continue to build Creatio into a longstanding, remarkable organization by recruiting the right people, leading them wisely, and trusting them along the way. Currently, she is also the Founder and Managing Partner at Terrasoft and an Official Member of the Forbes Technology Council. Previously, she was head of web development at Softline and a marketing manager at IBM.

 

3. Therese Tucker
Company: BlackLine
Title: Chief Executive Officer

Therese Tucker founded BlackLine, a cloud accounting software leader, in 2001, funding it on her own until 2013. She currently serves as the company’s CEO and made history in 2016 as the first female Founder and CEO to lead a VC-backed Los Angeles start-up to its IPO. The serial entrepreneur drained her bank accounts and 401(k), maxed out her credit cards, and second-mortgaged her house to keep the company running until its big break in 2007 when she decided to go all-cloud with BlackLine. In 2013, private equity firm Silver Lake bought a majority stake at a $200 million valuation. With Tucker at the helm, BlackLine grew its revenue from $37 million in 2013, to $123 million in 2016, and now to $289 million last year. While Tucker plans to step down as CEO in January 2021, she will continue to contribute to BlackLine’s success and will focus more on innovation and product development as executive chair.

Before BlackLine, Tucker spent 25 years in financial accounting and technology development. Most recently, Tucker was the CTO of SunGuard Treasury Systems. Her financial and technological acumen have combined to help to streamline the work of hundreds of thousands of accountants and give CFOs increased visibility into business performance. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and mathematics from the University of Illinois.

 

4. Susan Kuo
Company: Singular
Title: Chief Operating Officer & Co-Founder

Susan Kuo is the Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder at Singular, the leading platform for marketing analytics and mobile attribution known for simplifying marketing data. A passionate leader in mobile and marketing technology, Kuo has funneled her extensive experience and proven success track-record into the company, enabling the platform to be an integral player in the growth of big-name clients such as Lyft, Amazon, Airbnb, LinkedIn, Nike, and many more. Today, the company’s dashboard offering complete performance insights for companies is a market leader, no doubt due to her leadership.

Prior to founding Singular six years ago, Kuo was the senior vice president of sales and business development for Onavo, a company that was later acquired by Facebook. At Onavo, she helped build the company from the ground up into a multi-million-dollar SaaS business within its first few months. Having worked in senior positions for over 20 years, she gained industry experience in companies such as Vitala Inc., Digital Impact, Electronic Arts, Gaia Online, Booyah, and InMobi where her marketing acumen made her a pivotal leader within each role. She is an active participant in communities focused on empowering women in tech and women in leadership, proving an inspiration to future leaders in the field.

 

5. Edna Conway
Company: Microsoft
Title: Vice President, Global Security, Risk & Compliance, Azure

Edna Conway is the Vice President of Global Security, Risk, and Compliance for Azure, Microsoft’s acclaimed cloud-computing service. In this role, Conway is responsible for the development and deployment of the governance architecture of the company’s cloud supply chain. As of 2020, Microsoft Azure is second only to AWS in the global Cloud Services market, accounting for approximately 20% of the field. In addition to her commitment to Azure’s security and risk management, Conway is an advocate for workplace inclusivity in the cybersecurity sector and beyond.

Conway’s experience in cybersecurity is renowned, having spent twenty years in risk management and compliance with Cisco Systems, another Fortune 500 stalwart in IT. At Cisco, she was responsible for driving Cisco’s supply chain cyber and security protection plan through its suppliers and channel partners. She also currently sits on the Board of Advisors for both YL Ventures and Long Ridge Equity Partners. Prior to joining the technology sector, she had a substantial career in intellectual property law, and was formerly the assistant attorney general for the State of New Hampshire. She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in addition to several executive certificates from Stanford and MIT.

 

6. Nina Vellayan
Company: Xeeva
Title: President & Chief Executive Officer

An accomplished and dynamic senior level executive, Nina Vellayan is the President & CEO of Xeeva, Inc., a position she has held since February of this year. Xeeva is currently the industry leader in indirect spend management software. With a 20-year history of successful, strategic, and tactical leadership in fast-paced organizations within the payments space, Vellayan is well positioned to continue to drive growth in the top position at Xeeva. Known as both visionary and creative, Vellayan steers Xeeva with a wealth of knowledge in managing organizational change and procuring maximum results through inorganic and organic strategies and deep M&A expertise.

Prior to her appointment, Nina has held multiple top-level roles such as the president and investor of Stewardship Technology for almost three years, a managing partner of Nayalle Advisors, the CEO and president of FrontStream for six years, and CEO and president of BiddingForGood. No stranger to executive leadership, she has also been the CEO and president of TRUiST, Giftworks, FirstGiving, and Artez Interactive. In all her roles, she has been known for her entrepreneurial leadership style with highly effective planning, organizational, and communication skills as well as a solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving. Vellayan acquired her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland and her Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

 

7. Debjani Deb
Company: ZineOne
Title: Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder

Debjani Deb is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of ZineOne Inc., a San Francisco-based predictive marketing software provider. The company’s flagship is its Intelligent Customer Engagement (ICE) platform, which provides an open ecosystem that leverages an existing enterprise database with third-party resources and live-streaming data. Founded in 2014, ZineOne utilizes a top-rated AI-powered personalization engine to drive engagement for consumer-facing enterprises. In 2018, ZineOne was recognized by Gartner as a Cool Vendor, and in 2020 the company made its debut in the Magic Quadrant for Personalization Engines, demonstrating its leadership in the market.

As CEO, Deb oversees the execution of the company’s vision as well as its overall performance, which includes scaling up both in size and scope. Deb believes in the fundamentals of revenue, profit, margins, product, and people—a strategy she has used to lead ZineOne to success. Prior to starting ZineOne, she also co-founded EmPower, an integrated business and media research startup that was acquired by GenPact in 2011. Deb boasts years of experience as an executive strategist with companies such as GCI Group and ONI Systems. She received a Master of Business Administration degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master of Science degree in computer science from Stanford University.

 

8. Kristin Taylor
Company: ImageWare Systems
Title: President & Chief Executive Officer

Kristin Taylor is the President and Chief Executive Officer of ImageWare Systems, a global leader in identity management software solutions. She brings over 20 years of experience in the tech industry to this role, including everything from business development to sales management. Founded in 1987, ImageWare provides end-to-end digital ID-proofing for mobile, cloud, and on-site networks, featuring next-generation biometric authentication that is scalable for organizations of all sizes. In February 2020, Taylor replaced long-time company chief executive Jim Miller as the head of day-to-day operations, aiming to increase revenue and expand production.

Although she boasts a broad range of experience, her expertise is in analyst relations, a field she has innovated throughout her career. She has held executive roles in analyst relations at MediaTek Taiwan and IBM Corporate, in addition to operating her own consultancy and strategy firm. After graduating from the University of New Hampshire, Taylor began her career as a sales manager at AT&T/Lucent, followed by 12 years at Qualcomm, where she established its computing division with a landmark product line.

 

9. Emily McEvilly
Company: Workday
Title: Chief Customer Officer

A seasoned professional, Emily McEvilly is the Chief Customer Officer at Workday, the leading provider of enterprise cloud applications for finance, HR, and planning. Since its founding in 2005, Workday, which provides financial management, human capital management, and analytics applications, has grown to hire over 10,000 employees. Workday’s applications are used by a wide variety of companies, ranging from medium-sized businesses to Fortune 50 enterprises. At Workday, McEvilly spearheads the company’s entire customer experience division. Under McEvilly’s leadership over the past year, deployment success and customer satisfaction have been expertly boosted among the global Workday customer base. She is also credited with driving new innovations that have successfully delivered increased value to Workday’s customers.

Her other senior roles at Workday include her most recent position as SVP of global customer services, SVP of global field services, SVP of North America field services, and VP of service operations and readiness. Prior to Workday, McEvilly spent almost 11 years at Oracle, working up to a role as consulting practice director. McEvilly acquired her Bachelor of Arts degree in international business from Clemson University and has worked across North America, South America, and Europe.

 

10. Dr. Gabriella Rosen Kellerman
Company: BetterUp
Title: Chief Product Officer

Dr. Gabriella Rosen Kellerman, MD is Chief Product Officer of BetterUp, the global leader in mobile-based, personalized coaching for professionals. Used by leading Fortune 500 companies, BetterUp combines world-class coaching with AI technology and science to deliver personalized behavior change at scale, improving the wellbeing, adaptability and effectiveness of the workforce.

Since joining BetterUp in 2014, Gabriella has helped lead the company through extraordinary growth, first serving as a Scientific Advisory Board member, then as Chief Innovation Officer and Head of BetterUp Labs-- a first-of-its-kind behavioral research lab bringing together the best of business, academia and science to study the inner lives of workers in order to craft coaching interventions that drive optimal performance.

Gabriella began her career in psychiatry, going on to amass expertise in behavioral change technologies, digital health, and virtual services. Prior to BetterUp, Gabriella led behavioral health and clinical products at Castlight Health, Co-founded the digital health company LifeLink, and worked in the Department of Violence Prevention at the World Health Organization in Geneva. Gabriella earned a B.S. in History of Science, summa cum laude, Harvard University and an MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

 

11. Denise Garth
Company: Majesco
Title: Chief Strategy Officer

A widely regarded InsurTech thought leader and recognized InsurTech Top 50 Influencer, Denise Garth is the Chief Strategy Officer at Majesco. Today, Majesco is a global leader of cloud insurance software solutions with products that empower insurers to modernize, innovate, and connect their business at speed and scale. Garth began working at Majesco in 2015 as a senior vice president in strategic marketing, industry relations, and innovation before her recent appointment as CSO in September of this year. Garth leads the company’s strategy, marketing, industry relations, and innovation in support of Majesco’s client-centric strategy. With both P&C and L&A insurance experience, Garth has also authored research and articles grappling with the key issues and opportunities facing the insurance industry.

Prior to Majesco, Garth’s extensive leadership career has spanned both business and IT across the insurance industry, including Century Companies, CUNA Mutual Group, Mutual of Omaha, Bowne Global Solutions, ACORD, Innovation Group, and Strategy Meets Action. A renowned strategic thinker, innovation leader, international speaker, and author, Garth has deep international ties across North America, Asia, and Europe. She is active in the InsurTech space, is an Advisory Board Member for the Silicon Valley Insurance Accelerator, and a Mentor for the Global Insurance Accelerator. Garth holds a Bachelor of Science degree in math and computer science from Central College in Iowa.

 

12. Margaret Arakawa
Company: Outreach
Title: Chief Marketing Officer

Margaret Arakawa is the Chief Marketing Officer for Outreach, a provider of sales automation and engagement software. The Seattle-based company is a market leader in sales enhancement solutions, and its platform is utilized by some of the most successful enterprises in technology, including DocuSign, Zoom, and Snowflake. As head of marketing for Outreach, which became a unicorn in 2019, Arakawa is determined to build the company’s brand and continue driving revenue growth. Known for building collaborative, high-performing teams, Arakawa drives strategy and business execution across brand, communications, demand generation, and product marketing.

Before joining Outreach, she spent 20 years with tech giant Microsoft, working her way from entry-level project management to the top role of general manager of U.S. marketing and operations. Throughout her time with the corporation, she led projects to tremendous success and contributed to sustained improvement. Outside her time dedicated to growing Outreach, she is an impassioned supporter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and its fight against childhood cancer. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern.

 

13. Taunia Kipp
Company: Kaseya
Title: Chief Corporate Marketing and Communications Officer

Taunia Kipp is the Chief Corporate Marketing and Communications Officer for Kaseya, the leading provider of IT and security management solutions for managed services providers and small to medium sized businesses. She has been an integral leader in various roles at the company over a span of eight years, enabling Kaseya to develop, deliver, and market industry leading technologies across 10 million endpoints worldwide, spanning 20 countries. Kipp’s colleagues have lauded her as someone who “played a crucial role in Kaseya’s aggressive mergers and acquisitions strategy and the unifying of our company into a single voice.” Kipp and her team have contributed to helping Kaseya build a valuation of more than $2 billion through outreach and public awareness.

Previously, Kipp collected over 20 years of leadership excellence with experience in senior roles at Wurld Media, ROO Media Group, Mountain Media, and Competitive Velocity Business Solutions. Notably, at Wurld Media she led partnerships with entertainment powerhouses such as 20th Century Fox, NBC Universal, and Warner Bros. Now at Kaseya, Kipp drives the development and execution of global marketing initiatives, corporate strategy and awareness, community engagement, brand management, and brand reputation.

 

14. Stacey Epstein
Company: ServiceMax
Title: Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer

With over two decades of cloud, HR, social, and enterprise technology expertise, Stacey Epstein is the Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at ServiceMax. An athlete, entrepreneur, writer, and avid speaker, Epstein’s accolades are many. In her previous role at SuccessFactors, Epstein has helped lead growth from $10 million to $150 million in revenue, being cited as instrumental to the company’s IPO in 2007 and subsequent acquisition by SAP for $3.4 billion. She is recognized by her colleagues for her ability to drive marketing at both the strategic and tactical level and inspires others within her team and throughout the company.

Epstein served as the CMO for ServiceMax for almost six years, before leaving to be the founder and CEO of her own company, Zinc. Zinc is a real-time communication app for field service workers credited for transforming the way businesses run. After ServiceMax acquired her company in 2019, she returned to the company in her current position. Epstein has been a marketing director for various companies since 1999, including Infor, ServiceSource, and nCircle. She is also a contributing columnist at Inc, Fast Company, Entrepreneur, and Biz Journals. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Emory University.

 

15. Lauren Langston
Company: Mavenlink
Title: Chief Operating Officer

Lauren Langston is the Chief Operating Officer at Mavenlink, a company she has been with for almost four years. She has been integral to the award-winning project management software start-up, having led the fundraising of nearly $100 million in equity and debt capital. At Mavenlink, Langston spearheads the company’s global business operations function, overseeing strategy, analytics, and go-to-market operations.

Prior to her appointment at Mavenlink, Langston was a venture and growth equity investor at Goldman Sachs. She was instrumental in Goldman Sachs’ early investment in Mavenlink. This earned her a position advising Mavenlink’s CEO as board observer which ultimately led to her appointment as VP of Business Operations for the start up. Langston was promoted to SVP of Business Operations and served as CFO before her appointment to COO. Langston acquired a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.

 

16. Camila Franklin
Company: AdColony
Title: Chief Operations Officer

A well-established manager of both products and projects, Camila Franklin is the Chief Operations Officer at mobile performance marketplace AdColony. With almost 20 years’ experience in leadership, Franklin is described by colleagues as being “beyond her title” with superb technical and product management expertise. At AdColony, Franklin lends her leadership abilities to elevate product management with her experience leading engineering, operations, and client-facing teams. Franklin joined AdColony in 2015 as leader of the client services team. From there, she held multiple VP and SVP-level roles, before assuming her current role this year.

Franklin is well versed in managing diverse cross-platform interactions and relations with clients, end-users, internal team members, and external partners. Prior to AdColony, Franklin held numerous leadership positions across Latin America and the U.S. at companies such as Blaze, Navio Systems, Tira Wireless, Device Anywhere, Antenna Software, and Moovweb. After acquiring a Bachelor of Science degree in computer engineering from The Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, Franklin also acquired a Project Management Extension from the University of California, Berkeley.

 

17. Cassie Fields
Company: Clearent
Title: Chief Revenue Officer

A Stevie award winning revenue leader, Cassie Fields is the Chief Revenue Officer for the Field Services Division at Clearent, the intelligent card processing fintech. With a strong leadership track record throughout the software industry, Fields brings to Clearent considerable expertise in customer experience strategy, customer experience functional alignment, and customer experience and organizational navigation for the politics of change. At Clearent, Fields oversees P&L responsibilities for more than three SaaS businesses within the Clearent software portfolio.

Prior to Clearent, Fields was the VP of sales and business development for FieldEdge where she achieved 47% year-over-year revenue growth for the company. Throughout her career, she has established a reputation as a tenacious leader whose results can be clearly measured across various senior positions at NCC Group, following her start as a sales representative at Cbeyond. Her numerous accolades include an individual recognition as the Sales Director of the Year in 2019 by Stevie Awards. She is actively involved in the community through various positions such as mentor for #GirlsClub, a member of the Revenue Collective, and her more recent appointment as an Advisory Council Member for the George Washington University School of Business.

 

18. Elizabeth Brockey
Company: Simpli.fi
Title: Chief Customer Officer

Elizabeth Brockey is the Chief Customer Officer for Simpli.fi, a leader in localized programmatic advertising. For nearly ten years, Brockey has served as the executive leader of the company’s Client Services team, responsible for maximizing customer satisfaction and enhancing campaign performance. Simpli.fi’s dynamic platform allows client businesses to create custom audiences for their marketing campaigns, and in return, gain deeper insights toward improvement. Throughout her time at the company, Brockey has executed strategic initiatives that have driven success and fostered innovation. In a digital world where communication is fueled by comments and tweets, she understands that customer success is essential in driving growth.

Previously, Brockey was the director of client development for AdShuffle, where she used her leadership skills to enhance the company’s sales, marketing, and client services departments. She also previously served as the recruiting and employee development manager at True.com. 19. Lan Cheng

Since joining Salary.com four years ago, Cheng has driven integral initiatives for the company, securing its spot as the front runner for salary intel nationwide. Prior to Salary.com, Cheng acquired leadership experience as the director of software development at Konexa Technology Inc. and as a senior software engineer at Intronis Technologies.

 

20. Jessica Jurva
Company: Lucidworks
Title: Chief Customer Officer

Jessica Jurva is the Chief Customer Officer at Lucidworks, the California-based enterprise search technology company. Lucidworks offers an application development platform, commercial support, consulting, training, and value-add software for open source Apache Lucene and Apache Solr. With over 20 years’ experience as a senior sales and customer success professional, Jurva adeptly fronts the voice of Lucidworks’ collective customers. She leads the company’s teams wherever customers are concerned, through onboarding, delivery, and management.

Having built teams and programs that have seen successful enterprise-level technical integrations for Fortune 500 companies, Jurva is more than up to the task of driving Lucidworks to its aims. She does this with the learnings from a deep history of experience gleaned in senior positions at companies such as Intuit, Visa, Placecast, TIBCO, and SessionM. Now with Lucidworks, Jurva is passionate about creating transformative customer experiences that yield exceptional business outcomes. Jurva acquired her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Notre Dame de Namur University.

 

21. Dayna Rothman
Company: OneLogin
Title: Chief Marketing Officer

Dayna Rothman is the Chief Marketing Officer for OneLogin, a provider of cloud-based identity and access management (IAM) solutions. Rothman is an accomplished marketing executive who focuses on building and scaling marketing organizations at high growth technology companies. Most recently, Rothman was VP of Marketing for D2iQ (FKA Mesosphere), where she built and scaled the global marketing team, grew marketing contribution to revenue by 78%, and helped lead the company through a major rebrand. Prior to D2iQ, Rothman held leadership roles at Marketo, EverString, BrightFunnel (acquired by Terminus), and SaaStr.

Rothman is the author of Lead Generation for Dummies and has taught several top marketing courses for LinkedIn Learning, her courses totaling over 200,000 views. Rothman has received several marketing honors such as The Top 25 Women in Revenue, Top 20 B2B Startup Marketers to Watch in 2019, Top 40 Marketing Strategists of 2014, and an EXPY Content Award nomination. Rothman also serves on the advisory board at Sendoso and is a top speaker and lecturer on marketing strategy. Rothman has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Southern Connecticut State University, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Golden State University.

 

22. Shaimaa Elk

Shaimaa Elk is the Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer of defi SOLUTIONS, a financial services company helping captives, banks, credit unions, and finance companies of any size evolve and improve their operations.
