Brett Caine, President and CEO
As president and CEO of Airship, Brett Caine is responsible for leading the organization’s growth and global expansion strategies. Brett Caine brings 22 years of executive experience in the technology industry with a strong background in scaling Software as a Service (SaaS) businesses from startups in emerging markets to the global “go-to” choice in mature industries. As former president of Citrix Online, Brett grew revenue from $40M to $600M over his 10 years with the company to become one of the largest SaaS providers in the world. Prior to joining Citrix Online, Caine held executive positions with several leading software companies including Openwave Systems, Software.com and Clarify, Inc.
Brett is a board advisor to mobile, SaaS and cloud startups, advising CEOs on market strategy, product positioning and fundraising. He holds a B.S. in Marketing from New York University.
Scott Allen, CFO
Scott brings more than 30 years of finance and operations leadership experience for high-growth SaaS companies to Airship as CFO. Previously, Scott served as CFO of Intermedia where he led revenue expansion from $50 to $200M, ultimately leading to a successful sale. Prior to Intermedia, Scott was the CFO at Citrix Online helping to scale the division from $70M to over $400M, becoming one of the largest SaaS businesses. Scott held a variety of senior finance and operating roles during eighteen years at ADP, culminating in overseeing all aspects of its Payment Solutions Division as vice president and general manager. A Bay Area native, Scott earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from San Jose State University and his Master of Business Administration from Golden Gate University.
Thomas Butta, Chief Strategy & Marketing Officer
Thomas Butta is the Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer at Airship. Butta brings over two decades of marketing leadership and brand positioning expertise that has accelerated growth and established market leadership for several global enterprise SaaS companies. Prior to joining Airship, Butta was CMO at SignalFx, and before that Sprinklr, where he redefined brand value around software observability and customer experience management respectively. Before that, Butta was a consultant in residence for Andreessen Horowitz, where he developed the firm’s points-of-view on market-changing technologies that supported its industry-leading executive briefing program on innovation. His career spans CMO leadership roles at AppNexus, NICE Systems, Parametric Technology Corporation and Red Hat, among others.
Butta serves as a director of YSA.org, a leading global nonprofit that activates young people to solve problems facing their communities. He is an advisor to early-stage companies, a speaker on many podcasts, a guest lecturer to graduate students, and holds a BA in English and Economics from Hamilton College. He completed executive education at Harvard Business School.
Virginia Llewellyn, Chief Legal & Administrative Officer
Virginia Llewellyn is Airship’s Chief Legal & Administrative Officer, responsible for all global legal and compliance matters, corporate governance and administration, and Airship’s people organization. Previously, Virginia served as general counsel at lifestyle brand Goop, where she was responsible for legal, compliance and people operations globally. Prior to her role at Goop, she held numerous general counsel positions across $100m+ beauty and fashion brands. Virginia also served as general counsel at Barrett-Jackson, the global collector car auction powerhouse. In 2012, she was named the Arizona Corporate Counsel of the Year. Before her career as a general counsel, Virginia served as a product liability defense litigator. Outside of professional work, she loves paddle boarding, live music and hosting family and friends.
Virginia is a graduate of Gonzaga University. She earned her JD at the University of Washington School of Law and completed the Executive Program for Strategy & Organization at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
