Previously, Eryn joined Toptal in 2016 and quickly rose from Client Partner to Head of Community and most recently Director of Operations. The Company is a network of the world’s top 3% of software engineering, design and finance talent available on demand. Toptal generates over $100 million in annual revenue and has achieved triple-digit growth. It is the largest fully distributed workforce in the world. Eryn leads operational initiatives for Toptal’s core team as well as for members of Toptal’s global network of expert freelancers.Bringing cross-functional operational experience from time spent at Sony and Mercedes-Benz, Eryn managed talent strategy initiatives ranging from retention programs to advanced skill education initiatives. Eryn also led the Company’s corporate philanthropy efforts, TopVolunteer, which recently announced a partnership with Tent, a global refugee organization, and is heavily involved in the Toptal Scholarships for Women initiative.
My strengths are finding the balance between rapid technology and agile business goals with the core strategy of a humanistic, community-driven approach to ensure both business success and longterm adoption. In today’s technological landscape, a main competitive advantage is remembering that people still power innovation and success. With a background in both marketing and consumer behaviour, my strengths are in creating and executing value-based, data driven, and profitable initiatives that put the user first. In my time at Toptal, I’ve created a number of talent engagement programs that use education and philanthropy as a way of providing value to our community members, increasing retention rates, and generate data to prove business value and worth. A summary of these accomplishments include: – Two iterations of STEM scholarships for women – Mentorships programs – Open source grants – Numerous skills academies for both soft and technical skills – A non-profit and NGO volunteer job board – Managed a team that has hosted and supported over 1000 events both in-person and online to serve a community of thousands in over 100 countries Throughout this time, I have seen the rapid growth of our network as well as dropped attrition rates simply by leading with value and authenticity, and ensuring that proper data analytics and ROI metrics are in place to create impact longevity.
Eryn is such a dynamic, strong female communicator at Toptal. Being one of the few female executives at the company, she’s made her mark in growing Toptal’s community (in the thousands of people) and its impact. Now that she has progressed to one of Toptal’s Director of Operations, she draws upon her cross-functional knowledge and has helped restructure multiple teams and improve their workflows. Getting to work directly with a top female leader like Eryn is a privilege.
Eryn is extraordinarily thoughtful; she really takes the time to truly understand the challenges and opportunities of every project or initiative she owns in order to create efficient, scalable workflows and improve the overall experience. She’s passionate about not only the growth of Toptal as a company but also the personal and professional growth of those around her. She truly leads by example.
Eryn has created an extraordinary community organization serving (and retaining) the tech freelancers on Toptal’s talent platform.
