Chief Clinical & Nursing Officer Dr. Karen Drenkard leads GetWellNetwork’s clinical team, advising on best practice implementation in the use of technology to enhance the patient and family experience. As head of the O’Neil Center, the patient engagement industry’s first “think tank,” she oversees research and efforts to help health care providers translate patient and family engagement theory into practice.Dr. Drenkard built a career on ensuring nursing excellence. Her resume includes executive leadership positions with the American Nurses Credentialing Center, Magnet Recognition Program and Inova Health System. GetWellNetwork relies on her clinical perspective and deep expertise in patient and family engagement to develop cross-continuum solutions that benefit patients, clinicians and health care administrators alike.
She earned her doctorate in nursing administration from George Mason University, and received a Master of Science in nursing from Marymount University and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Russell Sage College. Dr. Drenkard is a certified Nurse Executive, Advanced and Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
