Ben joined Microsoft in 2022 as Senior Program Manager – Azure Virtual Desktop. Lakeside Software is a leader in digital experience monitoring. Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational technology corporation producing computer software, consumer electronics, personal computers, and related services.
Before joining Microsoft, Ben was a Senior Director of Product Management at Lakeside Software in 2020. He was a Tactical Equipment Engineer at IBM and before that a MEMS Research Assistant at Northwestern University.
He graduated from Northwestern University with a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
When it comes to Ben, you must know he is a man of many strengths and here at Lakeside he in his time has worn many hats. But, if I had to pick what I feel is the biggest and best strength, I would say it’s that he really cares. He became our department leader in the middle of 2020, and that is when I got an actual measure of the man. I had a very hard year, Covid hit of course, and my wife lost her job. She had also miscarriage, I had appendicitis removed with complication, that healing didn’t go well. We had several instances where it seems like we may have come down with Covid. My Wife’s parents actually did come down with it. And some other things that I would rather not share. But you get the picture, a really hard year. And if Ben ever found out he say the same thing. “Take the time you need to take care of yourself and family first.” I’d never heard any person in a position of Authority say that with sincerity before. And it was the repetition and the follow thru that made me believe it. It was never something he’d save to hold over my head, or to use as leverage at some later dates. He meant it and backed it free and clear.
You can always count on Ben to have the answer, he quite literally knows the product inside and out. If I’m in doubt or want to double-check something I’ve come across on a case, I know he will be able to vet that knowledge or point me in the right direction for resolution. He’s high in the ranks, but is approachable and always helping out, it’s nice to have him in our corner.
Ben has deep industry and product knowledge that is evident in his ability to lead both business strategy and complex technical development. He has particular expertise in the area of integrations and has spearheaded dozens of integrations of our product with leading ISV solutions to strengthen partnerships and deliver more value to customers.
Ben has a wonderful ability of envisaging future customer requirements and translate them back to a future product feature. I find this extremely useful and it makes working with Ben very easy. Ben also has the ability to simplify complex technical messages, which makes everyone understand and remember the messages.
Ben’s knowledge of the space and technical underpinnings of his product are his best qualities as a manager. He also has a good relationship with his coworkers, and is able to effectively deliver for sales, consult with marketing and engage with engineers.
