Caroline is a dynamic cybersecurity expert with more than a decade of industry experience as a day-to-day manager at eBay and Zynga, product manager at Symantec, and managing consultant at Cigital (now Synopsys). She is currently VP of Security Strategy at Cobalt, a company that connects SaaS companies who want to improve their cybersecurity posture with hackers who can help find their problems before the bad guys do.Caroline received a 2010 Women of Influence Award in the One to Watch category and authored the popular textbook Security Metrics: A Beginner’s Guide, published by McGraw-Hill in 2011. Caroline is an amazing teacher, listener, kind, caring, and all around amazing leader. She leads by example and helps everyone. She treats everyone as if every single person has value and something to offer. She is an amazing mentor and will do anything she can to help you as long as you are willing to be taught. She goes above and beyond to teach others and her knowledge base is incredible. She probably pushes me to reach outside my limits which I think is an amazing quality to have. One of the most positive people I know.
At a time when women are not flocking to cyber security let alone the meager number of woman leaders in our profession, I have personally witnessed Caroline increase awareness of our profession, conscious of the challenges in our field. She is authentic, genuine and finds balance in all she does. She has been extremely successful and is inspiring to those around her. She writes extensively, has published a book and is running a successful podcast series.
In a world where there are not many women leaders in cybersecurity, I have seen Caroline manage with ease and grace. She has an extremely inspiring career journey inclusive of writing and publishing a book and running a successful podcast. Outside of that she has the ability to balance a healthy family life and be a genuinely good friend in the industry.
Wong’s day job is VP of Security Strategy and her spare time is spent as a LIFT mentor at the Executive Women’s Forum (EWF) where she mentors graduate students and industry practitioners on information security and career topics. Wong is constantly looking to improve and has a positive influence to all those around her.
Caroline lights up every room with her smile and genuinely cares about everyone in her network. She is always open to scheduling time with her to talk about anything and I especially admire her ability to do her job so well while being a Mother of 2 young children and 2 dogs. Highly recommend Caroline for this award.
