Chris founded whāngai in 2020. Whangai is a corporate finance advisory firm, with one purpose only: to help entrepreneurs scale their company.
Previously, he was a Managing Director at Robein Leven and before that a Managing Director Netherlands at Binck.
He graduated from Universiteit van Amsterdam.
Chris had the vision to see where the financial services industry was heading, years ahead of anybody else. He quit his job as one of the leading executives of Binck Bank, Europes leading online broker, because he was fed-up by the quality of the then available core banking platforms. He rented a basement and with a small tribe, started programming a whole new core banking platform. Basically programming a whole new bank with all its functionalities from scratch, hosted it in the cloud and offered it as a SaaS Platform in a time that even regulators never had approved of SaaS cloud banking and no other company had ever done so. Now, ten years later, Ohpen is a thriving scale-up, received € 40.000.000 in funding, has offices in The UK, The Netherlands, Spain and is a market leader in The Netherlands and rapidly growing in The UK.
