Dave Merkel is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Expel. Expel is a SOC-as-a-service platform that provides security monitoring and response for cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments. Merkel has nearly 23 years in the cybersecurity industry. He began his career in 1998.
Before joining Expel, Merkel was a chief technology officer at FireEye and before that a chief technology officer at Mandiant. Earlier in his career he worked with America Online, Inc. as a senior project manager of operations security.
Merkel graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with an undergraduate degree in computer science.
Dave Merkel, co-founder and chief executive officer of Expel, is head of the Herndon, Virginia-based managed detection and response (MDR) company. In 2019, Expel landed $40 million in financing; in the spring of 2020, another $50 million.
