  1. Jeff is a value-based leader. Early on, Jeff dedicated a substantial amount of time articulating Twilio’s values – or the kinds of attributes Twilions should strive for. He believed that no matter how big Twilio grew, values would serve as guidance so that every employee knew how to make decisions based on the company’s guidelines. Those values include ‘be humble’, ‘no shenanigans’, ‘start with the why, and ‘empower others’. Those values have become the catalyst for many programs at Twilio including Twilio.org, the company’s social impact organization that empowers nonprofits and social enterprises to use communications for good as well as Hatch, Twilio’s apprenticeship program that provides career paths for people who do not have traditional education backgrounds and have ambitions to become software engineers. Jeff is relentless, impassioned, and philanthropic. Jeff challenges his team to think about how Twilio can use its resources to empower our communities and give back and this is something that is discussed everyday within the walls at Twilio.
