Karl Sun Prior to Lucidchart, Karl spent several years at Google in a variety of roles, including starting Google’s China office and leading business development for China, starting the company’s patent department and setting patent strategy, and leading Google’s investments in advanced wind and battery technologies.Karl holds a B.S. and M.S. in EECS from MIT, an M.S. from MIT in Technology and Policy, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School where he was Editor of the Harvard Law Review.
Karl believes that employees are at the core of the company’s success and he enables people to make a difference, encouraging them to cultivate a passion and ownership over what they do. Karl trusts his employees, granting them autonomy and resources to succeed without being micromanaged. Karl pushes people to discover how they can do more, and has been instrumental in setting up programs to support and celebrate employees, such as mentorship programs, formal training and development, and employee recognition.
