Big Time Software Names Marketing Veteran Derek Slayton As New COO

Big Time Software, a private equity-funded company based in Chicago, has named veteran marketing and sales executive Derek Slayton as its new Chief Operating Officer, the firm announced on July 15. The company, which provides cloud-based software solutions for professional services and consulting enterprises, using its software as an operational platform to improve time and expense management, project and team planning, and invoicing and payments. Slayton, an experienced leader with a proven track record driving operational performance improvements, will oversee Big Time’s growth and go-to-market strategies, as well as other duties.

Slayton comes to the company boasting over two decades of experience leading marketing and product teams, channel management, and large-scale operations within SaaS and data companies, most recently with the Atlanta-based Terminus. While with his previous company, which provides marketing software solutions, Slayton served as chief marketing officer and EVP of market strategy during his three-year tenure. He has also held key leadership positions in several high-growth software companies that were successfully acquired by larger enterprises. In addition to his hands-on experience, Slayton holds an MBA in marketing and entrepreneurship from Babson College in Massachusetts. Big Time was founded in 2002 (as Edison’s Attic) by CEO Brian Saunders, and currently serves over 2,000 professional service firms.
