In January 2022, Vista Equity Partners announced its acquisition of business technology company Citrix, as well as its intention to merge it with Tibco, the business intelligence software venture it purchased in 2014. For Krause, his experience at Broadcom will directly inform his role; Citrix competes with his former company in the virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and cloud desktop as-a-service (DaaS) markets. On the other hand, Tibco provides analytics and data integration software, boasting partnerships with Amazon, Accenture, Wipro, and many others.

As the CEO of the new enterprise, Krause will be prepared to battle his former company—and its new addition, VMware—as potentially one of the largest software companies in the market. The Citrix-Tibco union will come out of the gate serving 100 million users in 100 countries.
