Cloud adoption continues to accelerate across industries worldwide, and the technology is certain to be a “big game changer,” according to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. The top executive made the proclamation during an address at the Microsoft Future Ready Leadership Summit in Mumbai, India.

He also noted the importance of cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in driving economic growth, as well as the momentum behind their adoption. As he addressed the company’s Indian constituents, the country boasts a public cloud services market that is expected to reach $13 billion by 2026, according to the research firm IDC.

Nadella, a Hyderabad native, also praised India’s public digital infrastructure advancements, touting Microsoft’s continued investment in the region. The CEO also noted the importance of energy efficiency in further economic growth, as well as AI-driven automation that can only benefit from a robust data infrastructure such as what the country is building. However, one of the most significant needs for creating economic growth is education and upskilling to keep Indian organizations at the pinnacle of innovation.
