Today, the company offers a range of services that include file comparison, recovery, management, sandbox seeding, replication, and compliance. Its data safeguarding suite enables admins to schedule automatic daily backups of custom objects, standard objects, and attachments, and to restore backed-up data, metadata, and relationships on command.

The company has achieved around 100% year-over-year revenue growth for the past two years while supporting more than 2,000 customers. Today, it employs more than 220 people at its New Jersey headquarters as well as in its Tel Aviv and London offices.

Over the last five years, OwnBackup has raised almost $100 million over six funding rounds, with their July 7 round bringing in $50 million. The company will use the new funds to accelerate its product development and expand its go-to-market functions. OwnBackup also plans to continue recruiting throughout the pandemic.

Existing investor Insight Partners led the new round of capital, with Salesforce Ventures, Vertex Ventures, and Innovation Endeavors also participating in the round. In a written statement, Managing Director at Insight Partner, Nikitas Koutoupes, said that the backup and recovery market was expected to surpass $18 billion by 2026, providing “massive untapped potential for OwnBackup.”

“Thanks to the unwavering support of our committed investment partners, we will be able to continue to scale to meet escalating market demand for our solutions as companies realize the need to claim ownership of cloud data security concerns and proactively ensure their data is protected and accessible at all times,” said Chief Executive Officer Sam Gutmann. “As we set the bar for cloud data protection, our focus continues to be growing the team and leading the pack in cloud data protection innovation.”

Since its inception, OwnBackup says it’s backed up over 8 million tables for more than 1,000 clients in health care, finance, insurance, government, nonprofit, higher education, manufacturing, and media verticals, among them Yellow Pages, Athena Health, DenMat, and Michigan State University.
