Lucid Motors’ Senior VP of Digital Resigns Amidst Challenges

Lucid Motors' Senior Vice President of Digital, Mike Bell, has resigned from his position, as announced by the company in a filing on May 6, 2024. Bell, a seasoned executive with a background at Apple and Intel, joined Lucid in 2021 and played a key role in software development. His departure comes at a critical juncture for the company, which faces challenges in sustaining demand for its luxury Air sedan while simultaneously advancing the production of its upcoming Gravity SUV.

Despite Bell's resignation, Lucid Motors has outlined a transition plan, with Bell expected to serve in an advisory capacity until mid-August. The company will provide him with severance benefits and a consulting fee. Derrick Carty, Lucid's vice president of platform software and also an Apple veteran, will assume Bell's responsibilities on an interim basis. The news of Bell's departure coincided with the release of Lucid Motors' first-quarter earnings results, revealing a $680 million loss amid modest delivery figures for its luxury electric sedan.
