Gen Z—specifically college graduates joining the workforce—have grown up as digital natives and are dissatisfied with existing norms, often choosing entrepreneurship over corporate careers. Widespread digital transformation has led over 60% of Gen Z individuals to pursue launching a new venture, according to info from WP Engine and the Center for Generational Kinetics.

The traditional “hustle culture” that has compelled previous new corporate workers is being subverted by Gen Z workers who embrace flexible hours, mental health considerations, and even working vacations. According to research from Microsoft and Wakefield Research, these young workers are opting to start new businesses or take on side hustles, as well as emphasizing corporate efforts on “social good.” However, many are neglecting data breach protection, which could prove to be a significant risk for new entrepreneurs.
