OpenAI’s ChatGPT has supplanted the “metaverse” and NFTs as the hottest tech subject in and beyond the computing industry. Originally co-founded by Elon Musk as a non-profit research company, the budding company’s AI-based chatbot has become a viral sensation among internet users and tech obsessives. As leaders and experts debate the pros and cons of AI-generated content, Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang is calling ChatGPT one of the greatest technological advances in computing of all time.
Since its founding by Huang and two partners in 1993, Nvidia has led the world of graphics processing units (GPUs), but the company is now a top provider of chipmaking for AI and many related applications. Among its virtues, the CEO has praised ChatGPT’s versatility, as it can compose content, fill spreadsheets, submit SQL queries, and write code, among many more developing features and functions. He considers this as “the iPhone moment” of AI, where big ideas have come together to illustrate the tangible prospects of the technology.
While many within and outside of the broad tech world may find different uses for AI generation, from potential impacts to manufacturing, healthcare, and more, Huang recognizes that this is just the beginning.
