Salesforce Announces First Round Of Post-Acquisition Slack Integrations

After closing on its near-$28 billion acquisition of Slack this past July, Salesforce has announced the initial integrations between the CRM heavyweight and the business communications platform—including with Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Tableau. Slack is being integrated into the Customer 360 platform to help connect sales, marketing, and service staff more effectively both internally and between companies. The ultimate goal of the enhancements between platforms is to improve hybrid work, resolve customer issues faster, and to optimize sales campaigns.

Salesforce also intends for Slack to operate as the primary communications platform for its workforce and clients alike. Features include digital “deal rooms” where sales representatives can access and update Salesforce records, and teams from all sides can come together in one virtual space hosted by Slack. Integrations enable automated daily briefs to provide sales staff with a personalized list of tasks, meetings, and priority deals. Salesforce is also launching Slack-first analytics with Tableau integration, providing users with insight into data and key metrics. With the acquisition, Slack is donating $54 million to the Salesforce Foundation as part of its “Slack for Good” commitment to increase the number of historically underrepresented peoples in the technology industry.
