SAP’s New Pay-As-You-Go and Free-Tier Options Make Business Technology Platform Easier For Partners

SAP is rolling out a new licensing model for its popular Business Technology Platform to its partner companies, including a new pay-as-you-go option. Additionally, SAP’s partners will now have access to a free tier of BTP services available for a trial period, including the Business Application Studio, Mobile Services, and Intelligent Robotic Process Automation. The company intends for the new model and free-tier access to help its teams develop and demonstrate new BTP-based solutions to its partners without the anxiety of a large up-front financial commitment. It could also help independent software vendors produce their own BTP-compatible products while making the adoption of SAP’s services easier for new partners.

The BTP is one of SAP’s signature offerings, consisting of nearly 90 products and services, including database, data management, analytics, application development and integration, and more. The platform operates as an integration hub for application and data assets from SAP and third-party companies. It features such technologies as AI, machine learning, internet of things (IoT), and blockchain capabilities. Pay-as-you-go and “freemium” options are becoming more popular as competition increases in the tech ecosystem, with companies as large as Dell Technologies offering such programs.
