Sarah Bird Takes Helm as CEO of Canvas, Pioneering 3D Technology for Design Industry

Seattle tech veteran Sarah Bird, known for her leadership at SEO software startup Moz, has assumed the role of CEO at Canvas, a software company specializing in technology for remodeling, architecture, and interior design. Bird, a former lawyer who joined Moz as chief operating officer in 2007, departed the company in November 2021 following its acquisition by J2 Global. After a two-year sabbatical filled with diverse experiences including travel, startup investing, and home remodeling, Bird announced her engagement and expressed enthusiasm for her new role at Canvas, describing it as her "next dream role."

Canvas employs LiDAR-enabled iPhone or iPad scans to create precise 3D models of homes, facilitating interactive designs with accurate measurements. Founded in 2008 by Jeffrey Powers and Vikas Reddy as Occipital Inc., the fully remote company, headquartered in Boulder, CO, delivers detailed, editable, as-built files in industry-standard formats. Bird, a University of Washington School of Law graduate and former board member of the Washington Technology Industry Association intends to remain in Seattle and prioritize filling key leadership positions at Canvas, including that of chief revenue officer, as part of her initial agenda as CEO.
