Smyte Adds Travis Reed to its Team

San Francisco-based Smyte, the online security startup and Y Combinator Winter 2015 graduate, has announced the appointment of Travis Reed to its executive leadership team as the new Vice President of Sales. The addition of Reed is set to place the company in a strong position to accelerate its growth into the new year and expand the adoption of its SaaS trust-and-safety platform.

The three-year-old startup, which lists customers including GoFundMe, Quora, TaskRabbit, Carousell and Meetup, says it has increased its sales by a whopping 200% year-over-year.

“Travis is an innovative and enthusiastic startup leader with a proven track record of successfully bringing new SaaS products to market,” said Pete Hunt, co-founder and CEO at Smyte. “His background in SaaS and security software make him a great fit for what we do and where we want to go. We’re excited to have Travis on the team, and look forward to his leadership in building our sales organization.”

Before Smyte, Reed served as the VP of Americas Sales for artificial intelligence and big data company PatternEx. Previously, he was Vice President of Sales for Riverbed Technology Americas Stingray Business Unit. At the Silicon Valley-based firm he held the responsibility for managing over eight sales teams and succeeded in growing revenue 164%. At Zeus, he led the development of the company’s SaaS business before its acquisition by Riverbed. He has also spent several years as a Sell Side Analyst at Soundview/Schwab, Merrill Lynch and later his own Sell Side Consultancy.

Travis received an MBA from Columbia Graduate School of Business.
