Tesla’s Software Update Includes Improvements to User Interface and Enhanced Features

Tesla is poised to launch a major software update that promises some new features and plenty of user interface upgrades, which is sure to please loyal drivers. The electric carmaker is already sending the new update to employees’ vehicles, which signals that it should hit consumer models in the near future. Software updates often occur on a rolling basis, which means some vehicles will likely get the notification sooner than others.

The update (2023.12) includes an array of interface-centric improvements, such as text size adjustments, control searchability, points of interest enhancements, and the addition of steering wheel phone call controls. The left scroll button on the steering wheel gets even more functional upgrades with new customization options, enabling drivers to adjust brightness and acceleration mode settings, and to perform actions like saving dashcam footage or toggling the camera app.

Also in the update, the automaker is promoting its new “Get to Know Your Tesla” feature, which serves as an on-screen vehicle manual. In addition, drivers can now make video calls with Zoom using the interior cabin camera, with video only available when the car is parked to avoid distracted driving. British English is now available as a voice recognition language, as well.
